Rome City Chamber of Commerce

Located in northeast Indiana is the small quiet town of Rome City. Beautiful Sylvan Lake is our main attraction for those looking to enjoy a day of fishing or just a scenic ride on your boat around the lake. Rides around the lake are available at Gene Stratton-Porter. There are many beautiful homes surrounding this lake and more being built as we continue to grow. Also located on our shores is the historic Gene Stratton-Porter Home and Museum. This is the second home of the well renowned author and this home is listed as an Indiana Historic Site.

Annual events occurring in Rome City include

• A Holiday House Walk where local residents open there homes so that visitors may enjoy their beautiful settings and holiday decorations;
• An annual Fun on Sylvan Fourth of July Celebration with food, games, car show, music and of course fireworks;

If you are looking for a place to live Rome City is a quiet and safe place for families to raise their children. Rome City School offers a great education and friendly staff for children in grades K-8. Once entering high school our children attend East Noble School in nearby Kendallville. We are just minutes away from Kendallville and less than an hour away from Fort Wayne, Goshen, Auburn, and Michigan offering all of your entertainment and shopping needs.

Upcoming special events in Rome City.

• Oct 17Halloween for "Little Spooks"
  For ages infant though 2nd Grade. Time: 6pm to 7:30pm. Location: The Limberlost Public Library.
• Oct 26-27Scary Scary Haunted Library
  6pm to 8pm. $1.00 Donation.
• November 3St. Gasper's Fancy Fair
  Starts at 9am. Cookie bar and crafts.
  Turkey Supper
  From 4pm to 7pm at the Rome City United Methodist Church
• November 10Rome City Holiday Open House
  From 11am to 3pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Limberlost Library, Town Hall, or any of hte four featured florists. On the 10th, teckets can be purchased at The Rome City American Legion Post or any of the four homes on the walk.
  Holiday Bazaar 9am to 2pm at the Rome City United Methodist Church.
  Holiday Open House at the Gene Stratton-Porter Memorial site. Through November 11.
• Dec 4Visit with Santa
  From 6pm to 8pm. at The Limberlost Public Library.
